About the counsellor and psychotherapist
My name is Josephine Murray-Smith and I have been a practicing psychotherapist and counsellor in south and central Edinburgh for the past 12 years. I offer Counselling, and Psychotherapy from my practice close to Edinburgh city centre.
I am genuinely interested in helping my clients resolve issues that are
holding them back in life. I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I work with both individuals and couples, with the aim of enabling my clients to enhance their life and to live it more fully.
It is my belief that early relationships and attachment patterns have a profound effect on how we interact with each other in the here and now.
I work relationally, keeping the relationship at the heart of the work. My work with clients reflects different traditions and has roots in both psychodynamic and humanistic thinking and I place emphasis on the significance of our unconscious patterns, as well as conscious ones.

My practice is on the south side of Edinburgh, near Edinburgh University and The Meadows and also close to central Edinburgh where I offer psychotherapy, counselling and supervision.
Counselling Supervision in Edinburgh City Centre
I also offer supervision to individuals and groups. I am currently on an advanced course for clinical supervision at the Metanoia Institute in London.
My philosophy of supervision includes the offer of a challenging and supportive relationship which gives the supervisee room to grow and develop as a practitioner
