Counselling will help you to address the issues you are facing now. It will generally focus on a specifc problem, such as the loss of a loved one or a particular crisis point in your life.

Maybe you have a decision to make and want to explore the issues surrounding it?
Maybe you lack confidence at work?
Maybe you are recently bereaved or divorced?
Maybe its that time of life when the children have left home and you are wondering what your purpose is?

Counselling can help you to examine these issues and the way you are feeling. As a Counsellor I can help you to understand and use your own in-built strengths to move on to a better place.

Counselling is normally - but not always - short term. It is sometimes called cognitive therapy or CBT.

Psychotherapy is generally long term and may involve exploring your present experiences and issues and finding links with past events and feelings. In this you will be able to better understand the essential you and the way you interact with others.

Maybe you want to break free of repetitive and destructive patterns of behaviour. Perhaps there are issues from your childhood you wish to resolve. You may be feeling anxious and unable cope, or that your problems are overwhelming you. Whatever the reasons for these feelings, you do not have to bear the burden alone.

As a Psychotherapist I can work with you to enable you to see life experiences from a different angle, to break free from unwelcome emotional and behavioural patterns, to change and grow and to lead a more fulfilling life.

Initially we will agree to work towards a specific goal. We will continually assess our progress to make sure that you are okay about where we are with the work. Psychotherapy can be difficult as it often involves looking at deep rooted issues and can be painful in the short term, but very beneficial in the longer term.
